The resurfacing lasers are performed by our highly trained, and laser certified doctors. Our doctors hold both a rejuvenation and medical laser licence. In Queensland, a medical laser licence is held only by doctor, and is a requirement in order to resurface lesions such as moles and age spots (seborrheic keratoses). An initial consultation with our doctor is compulsory before any laser treatment in order to determine your suitability, diagnose the degree of pigmentation and sun damage, and hence, be able to tailor a bespoke treatment for you.

SCITON LASER TREATMENT OPTIONS

HALO™ Laser

The HALO™ Glow is the world’s first hybrid fractional laser. Safe for most skin types, the HALO™ delivers both an ablative 2940nm and a non ablative 1470nm wavelength for unmatched improvement in the appearance of sun damaged skin. Sciton’s patented HALO™ technology ensures a precise, and more comfortable, as well as more consistent results for healthy, glowing skin. The procedure is well tolerated under a topical anaesthetic, with about a 5 to 7 day downtime. The HALO™ laser is even safe for darker and ethnic skin types.

PROFRACTIONAL Laser

PROFRACTIONAL Laser

The PROFRACTIONAL Laser is a full deep resurfacing laser, adapted for very sun damaged skin, heavier wrinkles and can also be used for scarring. It delivers a high energy laser to fully resurface the area that is treated, encouraging collagen regeneration, for smoother, healthier skin. The procedure can be done either under a topical anaesthetic or a nerve block. This can be discussed with the doctor on the day of the consultation. There is about a 2 week downtime, depending on the depth and the area resurfaced. The recovery process may be uncomfortable, and you will be required to return to the clinic for a few appointments during the recovery process. A lighter mid level resurfacing can be done using the Micro Laser Peel, with less downtime, under a topical anaesthetic.

Nano Laser Peel

The Nano Laser Peel, aka the “Weekend Laser” is a very light, superficial resurfacing laser – perfect for the weekend or upcoming special occasions. This is also a great option for those who can only afford very minimal down time. You will experience mild redness like a sunburn and dry skin for a couple of days after the procedure. There is no need for any anaesthetic. This procedure is very well tolerated. We recommend a course of 3 for optimum results. If you are planning your wedding or any other special occasion, we advise no less than a 2 week gap between the procedure and your special day.

Micro Laser Peel

Micro Laser Peel is a medium to deep fully ablative laser designed to treat moderate to severely sun damaged skin, dry and dehydrated skin, as well as superficial pigmentation and fine lines. This is a great treatment when combined with the Profractional Laser for a more intensive Laser Resurfacing treatment. There is about a 2 week downtime, depending on the depth of the treatment, and it is a procedure that is performed under a topical anaesthetic.

Laser resurfacing is a process where tissue is heated down to certain depths to encourage collagen regeneration. Laser an encompass either “non ablative”, where tissue is only heated and not destroyed, or “ablative” where tissue is destroyed, either in a columnar fashion (like the HALO) or in a complete ablative field (like the Micro or Nano Laser).

how-lasers-work

Laser resurfacing is performed by our doctors after the application of a strong prescription only topical anaesthetic. We also have the ability to perform nerve blocks on some of the more sensitive areas where the laser is going to penetrated deeper, ie in acne scarring on the cheeks. The procedure is well tolerated with the application of the topical anaesthetic. You will feel significant heat for about 2 hours after the procedure. You are sent home with a facial mist, and are encouraged to stay indoors for 3 to 5 days. You are allowed to take some painkillers prior to the procedure, and to continue after the procedure for the next day or two

Laser resurfacing, is highly effective in removing mild to moderate wrinkles. The Profractional Laser is suited to moderately deep wrinkles around the eyes and the mouth areas.

The laser penetrates down to the layer of the skin that makes collagen and encourages regeneration, while also treating surface tone and texture.

Individual results can vary from person to person, and may depend on factors such as how you look after your skin post-treatment, as well as sun exposure. As we age, skin continues to loose collagen, so after care and maintenance is extremely important. Using skin actives as part of your post-treatment routine may help support the longevity of your results. Our team of doctors and therapist will curate a bespoke suite of skin care actives for you.

Recovery can take 7 to 14 days depending on the depth and the areas treated. The areas treated will go red, and flaky, and subsequently swell for 1-2 days after. The skin will eventually form fine brown scabs which can persist for 7 days or more. It is imperative that strict aftercare is followed during the recovery phase to prevent undesirable side effects such as hyper, or hypopigmentation and scarring. NEVER pick at the scabs! Always wear sunscreen when you’re outside. You MUST stay out of the sun for at least 7 days or otherwise advised after the treatment.

We recommend a yearly treatment with the HALO. Nano Lasers can be done any time of the year as it is the mildest resurfacing laser we have. We recommend 1 to 2 targeted sessions of the Profractional Laser around the eyes/mouth with further treatments to be guided by our doctors. The Micro Laser is recommended once every 1-2 years.
