How it works

Lutronic genius
Lutronic genius

The GENIUS Lutronic Radiofrequency Skin Microneedling works to address skin issues such as fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, stretch marks and sun damage. The procedure is performed by our highly trained doctors after the application of an effective topical anaesthetic to reduce discomfort, and only takes about 30 to 60 minutes depending on the area being treated. In addition to treating those areas of concern, The GENIUS Lutronic Radiofrequency Microneedling also stimulates collagen production to help plump up thinning lips as well as mildly saggy brows and jowls that can result from aging over time.

Radiofrequency Skin Needling is different to IPL’s and other treatments such as lasers. IPL and BBL targets superficial pigmentation and redness, while helping with very mild collagen regeneration. Radiofrequency Skin Needling goes deeper to deliver more effective collagen regeneration.

Ablative laser vs RF microneedling

CO2 laser and RF Microneedling offer different approaches for skin rejuvenation. The suitability of each treatment varies based on individual patient needs, and consultation with a healthcare provider is essential for personalised advice. CO2 and other fractional and ablative lasers actually “destroy” or ablate columns of tissue using heat. This lends itself to a longer downtime. Radiofrequency Needling delivers heat into the deeper layers of the skin, minimising surface trauma and helps with the volumisation of the skin. The downtime for RF Needling for the treatment of acne scarring is less than that of laser treatments.

Frequently asked questions

RF microneedling is delivered after the topical application of a strong prescription only anaesthetic by our doctors. This is done under supervision in the clinic. This ensure that the procedure is tolerable. You will feel heat and some discomfort during the procedure, but this will be done within 30 to 60 minutes depending on the area being treated.

RF Microneedling tightens skin by stimulating collagen production in the deeper layers of the skin. As we age over 30, we lose collagen by about 1% a year. This process is accelerated with sun exposure, medications, certain medical conditions as well as smoking and excessive alcohol consumption. RF Microneedling deliver both heat and radiofrequency waves directly into the deeper layer of the skin, causing microtrauma, which then stimulate the production of precious collagen. This process of rebuilding collagen can take 6 to 12 weeks.

For most clients, we recommend 3 sessions 3 months apart. In our experience we find this timing delivers optimum results, though individual results may vary.

The tipped needles penetrate through the epidermis to reach the dermis.

RF is delivered into the target area with precision.

Microtrauma is caused to the area which then regenerates collagen.

Outcomes can vary between individuals. A personalised consultation with one of our doctors is recommended to determine the most appropriate treatment options for your specific needs.
