Qualifications and Medical Background
Dr Choong graduated with a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Monash University in 2005. She undertook five years of hospital-based surgical training across neurosurgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, and general surgery at Royal Melbourne and Monash Hospitals. This foundation underpins her ability to perform over 95% of skin cancer surgeries in-house at SunCoast Skin.
She later completed a Master’s Degree in Skin Cancer Medicine through the University of Queensland, further refining her skills in dermatoscopy, diagnosis, and advanced surgery. Dr Choong is among a select group of Queensland doctors to hold this postgraduate qualification, reflecting her commitment to excellence in skin cancer care. She is also a Senior Lecturer in the UQ Masters Program, where she teaches and mentors GPs in skin cancer management across Australia.
